Centre cleats for a Centaur
I am looking at fitting centre cleats on Gemini, and cleats such as these are just way to expensive:
So I am looking in to geeting some bespoke cleats made ot of 316 grade stainless steel, her is what I have so far:
The idea is that these will just drop over the toerail and be secured with sikaflex and 3 bolts.
Here is the finished article:
This is the genius bespoke stainless steel fabricator that made them.
Now fitted on to Gemini:

Is there any reinforcement up inside the toerails (at the back of the lockers)?
Hi, I didn’t consider that it was necessary, after a few years of use, I still don’t.
Hello, really like the site. I have a 1971 Centaur based on the Deben. Got it last June and what with work and lockdown haven’t sailed as much as I’d like though still managed to have some fun and got round to SYH in a bit of dodgy weather which is always nice.
Very interested in. those midship cleats. Where did you get them done? Could they make a set up for me do you think? -it would be same dimensions.
Anyway all the best hope you get out on the water soon.
Stephen
Hi Stephen,
A couple of trips last week, one near you, up the Ore almost to Snape.
Unfortunately the guy that made them for me had some health issues and gave up his business.
Sorry,
Gary.
Oh that’s a shame. Glad you have been getting out. I’m still away working but back in August and raring to get the boat ready. I might see if a local fabricator could make them.
Great Idea, I might do the same.
